Biote Hormone Pellet Therapy

Biote® Hormone Replacement Therapy

BioteWhat is Biote hormone pellet therapy?

Biote® is a personalized approach to hormone replacement therapy using implantable pellets that allow a patient’s body to absorb the right level of hormones at the right time using a delivery method the body can process efficiently.

As a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) treatment, Biote is designed to restore hormonal balance for women. As we age, our body starts producing less of key hormones like testosterone and estrogen, which can cause a broad range of symptoms such as:

  • daytime fatigue
  • weight gain, especially in the midsection
  • mood swings
  • hot flashes, night sweats
  • decreased libido
  • brain fog
  • stress, anxiety
  • depression
  • sleep problems.

Using very small, bioidentical hormone pellets derived from natural sources, Biote's optimal hormone replacement therapy provides a steady release of hormones that mimic the body’s natural hormone production. The treatment is effective in alleviating these symptoms, and has been shown to benefit patients' overall well-being and quality of life. Studies have shown that hormone replacement therapy can benefit postmenopausal women physically, mentally and emotionally.

Who do we treat with Biote hormone replacement therapy?

As women get older, their hormone levels decrease — most dramatically during perimenopause (immediately before menopause) and during menopause.

BioteDr. DiEdwardo is a Biote Certified Provider and can evaluate and treat these women as candidates for Biote hormone replacement therapy. She will perform a comprehensive evaluation including blood labs and a medical history review, and then recommend and optimize a treatment specifically for each individual.

What to expect with Biote hormone replacement therapy

Initial consultation: During the initial consultation, Dr. DiEdwardo will review your medical history and discuss and review your hormonal related symptoms. Using blood tests she will assess hormone levels to determine the appropriate dosage of bio-identical hormone pellets.

Pellet insertion: Biote pellets, about the size of grains of rice, are inserted under the skin in a simple, minimally invasive procedure. The pellets are typically placed in the hip area in the soft tissue just above the buttocks, and begin working in just a few days. The doctor will use lidocaine to numb the area, and insert the pellets in a very small incision. This procedure is quick, takes less than 15 minutes, and requires no significant downtime.

Post-procedure: Patients may experience mild discomfort at the insertion site for a few days. It is recommended to avoid strenuous physical activity for a short period following the procedure. Some side BioTE side effects that have been reported include acne, facial hair or thinning hair — all temporary and reversible.

Hormone release: The pellets gradually release hormones over several months, maintaining consistent hormone levels and avoiding the fluctuations often associated with other hormone replacement methods. As pellets are bioedentical and contain hormones like those our body products, pellets will completely dissolve and leave nothing behind.

Follow-up: Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor hormone levels and adjust treatment as needed. Most patients notice improvements in their symptoms within a few weeks, with optimal results typically achieved within 4 to 6 weeks.

Long-term benefits: Patients often report improvement of many of their symptoms with BioTE® Hormone Replacement Therapy, including:

  • increased energy
  • improved mood
  • enhanced mental clarity
  • better sleep
  • increased sex drive
  • restored sense of well-being.
